Capricorn Ingress, 1997
I promised you that four times each year I shall remind you that
it is important to read the charts for the ingress to each cardinal
sign. It is time now to talk about the Capricorn Ingress which is
also called the winter solstice. This year the Capricorn Ingress
occurs on December 21, 1997 at 3:08 p.m. EST.
The day of the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere is the
shortest day of the year. This is the day when the Sun enters 00
degrees Capricorn in the tropical zodiac. We call that moment the
Capricorn Ingress. Twelve times a year, the Sun enters (makes an
ingress into) a new sign. A chart erected for each ingress gives
the serious astrologer a new predictive tool. Some ingresses are
more potent than others. The Capricorn Ingress, for example, provides
predictive insight for an entire year. The Aries, Cancer, and Libra
Ingresses, although less powerful, are ingresses to a cardinal sign
and thus provide three months' worth of predictive information.
It is the Capricorn Ingress that I use when asked to make a public
forecast for the coming year.
I consider the Capricorn Ingress to be the Solar Return for the
Earth because it is the only cardinal ingress in an earth sign.
The Solar Return for a person is a horoscope drawn for the exact
degree, minute, and second of the Sun's return to its place in the
person's natal horoscope. It is also drawn for a specific location.
For the Solar Return of the Earth, the position to which the Sun
returns is 00 degrees 00 minutes 00 seconds of Capricorn.
To demonstrate the use of the Capricorn Ingress, and to provide
an interesting article, I have decided to view this Capricorn Ingress
as seen at the White House in Washington, D.C. Be assured that for
my personal use I am also examining the Ingress as seen at my home
in Woodland Hills, California. I suggest that you erect a horoscope
for the moment of the Capricorn Ingress in your time zone, in the
city where you live. You may also want to erect the chart for the
White House, so that you can duplicate the discoveries presented
in this article.
In the chart erected for the city where you live, if the Midheaven
or Ascendant happens to be conjunct or opposite something in your
personal horoscope, you can expect the next year to be of special
importance to you in the nature of the planet that aspects the MC
or ASC of the chart. I personally would use no more than one degree
of orb.
Let us direct our attention now to the Capricorn Ingress drawn for
the White House. The Sun, at 00 degrees and 00 minutes of Capricorn,
falls in the eighth house of beginnings and endings, other people's
money, and finances of the partner. Is this an indication that the
main resident of the White House will be receiving public scrutiny
and be in the spotlight because of the finances of his wife and of
his business associates and of contributors to his campaign for re?election?
Additionally, Pluto is on the Descendant of the Ingress chart, indicating
that there will be major changes in the White House in 1998.
The Moon at the moment of the Ingress is at 29 degrees and 17 minutes
of Virgo. This Moon is Void of Course. The Void of Course Moon tells
me that all the scrutiny of government operations will not have
a fruitful conclusion within the year 1998. Some of these investigations
will appear to have been abandoned, and others will drag on beyond
1998. This will not be a good time for the power structure in Washington.
The Void of Course Moon in the Capricorn Ingress also tells me
that people all over the world are likely to feel that things are
not quite right, not on target, and certainly not on schedule. Personal
and national projects all over the world will encounter unexpected
difficulties. Expect no major diplomatic advances this year.
I look all over the United States to see where one of the planets
may be angular. In such a city, there will be conditions and events
described by the nature of the planet. Do you remember that when
I wrote about the 1997 Libra Ingress, I named some cities that could
be highlighted and receive much attention? One of these cities was
Des Moines, Iowa. Little did I know in September that a woman would
give birth to septuplets in a Des Moines hospital in November.
When the Capricorn Ingress chart is drawn for San Francisco, California,
the Sun is exactly on the Midheaven of the chart, indicating that
something important will occur in San Francisco during 1998 which
will focus attention on that city. Moreover, the Ascendant of that
chart is at 00 degrees Aries, telling me that the entire world will
be interested in whatever it is that happens in or to San Francisco.
The Capricorn Ingress chart, drawn for the city in which you live,
is a major predictive tool and should not be overlooked as you plan
for the year ahead.
